Acorn Recruitment is excited to be supporting Newydd Catering & Cleaning in the new appointment of their new Chair and up to four new Board Members from a variety of backgrounds that will support the development, strategic direction and governance of Newydd.

Newydd Catering & Cleaning is a Local Authority Trading Company setup in 2017 by Flintshire County Council which allows the consolidation of existing contracts along with the freedom for them to trade externally, delivering cleaning and catering services acrossFlintshire for schools and other commercial businesses.


Key details:

  • Location: County Hall, Mold, Flintshire, North Wales.
  • Time Commitment: Circa 12 meetings per year, along with the necessary prereading.
  • Remuneration: £5,000 per annum for Chair and Voluntary for Board Members, although all expenses can be reimbursed.
Closing Date: 29th January 2023.

Responsibility:


The Newydd Board is not only legally responsible for the company but plays a pivotal role in helping set the strategic direction of the company and ensuring appropriate accountability and governance of the Local Authority Trading Company.


The Board is responsible for:

  • Setting the strategic direction of the organisation
  • Holding the company and its management team to account
  • Creating value and sustainable progress
  • Providing assurances to the leading Authority
  • Monitoring performance and making recommendations
  • Ensuring adherence to all compliance, H&S and other requirements

Chair Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Chair of a Board, or strong leadership experience gained from operating at Board level.
  • A strong understanding of governance.
  • A good understanding of organisational management with the ability to support the Managing Director when required.
Board Member Requirements
For the purpose of this campaign, we're interested in individuals with the following areas of expertise:

  • Financial Management
  • Marketing, Sales, Business Development or Contract Management
  • HR Management
  • Previous board experience is not a prerequisite
  • An understanding of governance would be beneficial
  • Ability to take a strategic, wider perspective with clear thinking skills
