Based at Central Middlesex Hospital in Brent, the elective orthopaedic centre will see over 4,000 Londoners a year for routine bone and joint surgery when it opens in November 2023.


We're looking for a permanent, highly motivated and reliable team player to support our surgical team to care for our patients in operating theatres.


The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the surgical team to provide high quality and safe patient care
  • Supporting the surgical team in the preparation of sterile and non
- sterile equipment.

  • Prepare theatre prior to commencing and closing of an operating list
  • Participate in circulation duties, commensurate with banding
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy environment throughout theatres to comply with Infection Prevention Requirements
  • Maintaining consumable stock levels in theatres as well as in storage areas.
  • Support out of hour surgery as a member of the Theatre team, rotating to weekends and on call duties

Key Responsibility

  • Demonstration Trust HEART value at all time
  • Works under the direction and supervision of a registered practitioner to deliver planned care.
  • Assists in the collection of patients from the ward and receipt into theatres
  • Undertakes circulating role in theatres undertaking swab and instruments counts with a registered practitioner as per policy and scope of role
  • Assisting in transferring patients intraoperatively with prospectively prepared appropriate equipment/table attachments.
  • Participate in cleaning and disposal of waste in accordance with theatre and trust policy.
  • Ensure patient trolleys/ beds are cleaned, prepared and in working order.
  • Assists the Loan and Instrument coordinator to resource loan kit
  • Escalates supply chain issues to the loan coordinator and theatre team
  • Assist with management of loan instruments from arrival on site through initial sterilisation, subsequent decontamination and return to company
  • Escalate estate issues and report to helpdesk for repair.
  • Contribute to accurate documentation by input data on Theatre Information Management System as appropriate to role
