Derbyshire County Council is seeking an
Assistant Director (Asset Management) to lead the implementation of our Asset Management Strategy, transforming our property assets into strategic advantages ensuring the development and delivery of effective, efficient, and responsive property asset management
to meet the needs of the council, its users, and the people of Derbyshire.

As Assistant Director (Asset Management), you'll be at the forefront of our mission to optimise our property portfolio for maximum impact and efficiency, leading our dynamic team in managing and optimising the Council's property assets.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee Estates, Projects, and Asset Management functions, ensuring operational excellence and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on property matters, seizing opportunities for growth, investment, and optimisation.
  • Drive strategic property projects and initiatives that position us as leaders in the field.
  • Foster collaboration with external partners to unlock new opportunities and drive innovation.
  • Champion our commitment to sustainability through the delivery of our property carbon reduction strategy.

Experience and skills required:


  • A natural leader who inspires others to exceed expectations and embrace change with experience in senior roles within Property Services, and a track record of success and innovation.
  • Proven ability to lead in complex environments, driving forwardthinking solutions and strategies.
  • Expertise in property legislation, regulations, and best practices, with a keen eye for opportunities and risks.
  • Financial acumen to manage budgets and resources effectively, maximising returns and minimising waste.
  • Stellar interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • A commitment to our organisational values and a dedication to achieving our shared vision.

Qualifications:


  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant field.
  • Corporate Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., CIOB, RIBA, RICS).
  • A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, ensuring you stay at the cutting edge of your field.
