The kitchen department is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and fun kitchen assistant to work closely with the other kitchen assistants, chef and head chef to assist in organising and controlling the efficient and economic production of quality food with whilst maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

This is a bank position so hours and days will be picked up when suitable for you.

There are a range of duties as a kitchen assistant which are not limited to:

  • Prepare, cook, and serve hot and cold meals as and when required with particular attention to correct menu orders and signature,
  • Provide for special dietary requirements where necessary and take into account the preferences of individual residents,
  • Wash up after meals and ensure all crockery and equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately, and that the overall cleaning of the kitchen area (and where appropriate, the dining areas) is carried out effectively,
  • Understand and ensure the implementation of the care home's Health & Safety policy, Emergency and Fire procedures and COSHH,
  • Ensure stock rotation. Order stock, check deliveries and check and value stock as required,
  • Build relationships with residents to their likes and dislikes and understand their needs.
