Purpose of the role:
We are looking for a highly motivated Engineer to join a high performing, fast paced and expanding test team.

As a Senior Test Capability Engineer, you will directly support the development of the technology by ensuring the capability and availability of the circa.

90 Test Stands we have on-site.

The role will require you to work closely with the Test stakeholdersto understand upcoming test capability requirements; develop, evaluate, and present technical design proposals and ensure their timely implementation in accordance with the agreed test schedule.

You will also be required to work with the Test team and widerbusiness to identify and contain arising issues and determine fast and effective resolutions to maintain test operation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Test Capability Manager to deliver a robust, scalable, and costeffective Test Stand fleet
  • Support the design and development of the Test Stand fleet to meet reliability objectives and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including, for example, electrical regulations
  • Evaluate feasibility of new Test Capability Requests
  • Identify and critically compare solutions and present recommendations to Test Team and wider business for assessment
  • Perform analysis work to demonstrate that proposed capability upgrades meet all performance and reliability requirements across full range of operating conditions and environments
  • Produce detailed design documents to support implementation of capability upgrades and ongoing quality management of test stand fleet
  • P&ID schematics, electrical drawings, technical drawings
  • Ensure safety is foremost consideration when designing or implementing any new capabilities or performing works on existing installations
  • Be a technical leader within the Test Capability team; conduct peer reviews and provide support to junior members to ensure a consistent and technically sound design and implementation approach.
  • Conduct failure mode analyses on new or existing capability designs; take lead on identifying, coordinating, and executing improvement projects to maximise test stand availability
  • Support fault finding activities and issue investigations and lead on the development and delivery of fast, robust and effective resolutions
  • Identify and document lessons learned and best practice guidance and communicate effectively to test Capability Team and wider Test Department
  • Provide accurate and regular updates to Test management and project teams to ensure capability upgrades are delivered in line with agreed project timescales
  • Support the Test Capability Manager with scheduling and work package planning
  • Liaise with Test Operations to develop and execute commissioning plans and maintenance schedules

Knowledge and skills required for the role:

  • ?Minimum 4 years' post graduate industrial experience gained in a manufacturing, process plant, food industry, laboratory setting or similar
  • Design and delivery background with experience of one or more of the following:
  • Test stand / rig / dyno
  • Electrical chassis design
  • Control systems
  • BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng level in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or similar
  • Ability to visualise and summarise data, perform basic sense checking, identify inconsistencies and perform basic thermodynamic calculations, e.g. efficiency, simple heat balances
  • Ability to read and produce technical documents including mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&IDs
  • Ability to plan and manage work packages
  • Ability to produce risk assessments and other similar safety tools, e.g. HAZID, HAZOP and FMEA
  • Sound report writing skills and the ability to communicate results and deliver presentations to colleagues and management
  • Grasp new concepts quickly and develop a good working knowledge of our products and their operation
  • Deliveryfocused and highly motivated, capable of handling multiple priorities and working alone as well as part of a highperforming team

Desirable skills:

  • Experience of working with hazardous gases
  • Knowledge of electronics and instrumentation
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, chemical and thermodynamic processes, and control systems
  • Knowledge of safety standards, for example DSEAR, ATEX, PSSR and PUWER
  • Knowledge of CAN, MODBUS, FLOWBUS, Serial, Ethernet Comms
