Temporary to March 2024**
Role Purpose:You will work with managers to coach or advise them in relation to employee relations queries taking into consideration a range of information to discover creative solutions.

Regularly meet with management teams to discuss people related performance and update them on emerging employment law and POD policy.

You will attend formal ER meetings to act in an advisory capacity.


You will be visible to the force by building relationships with managers, staff and staff associations always acting as a role model of POD.

Gathering local intelligence of force activity to share with POD; which will be instrumental in shaping our advice, policy and strategy.

You will be the underpinning support to the People Business Partners and work collaboratively on work as directed by PBP.

You will be a coach and mentor to colleagues in the Advisory Team to share knowledge and best practice to develop others.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide advice and guidance on employment matters with particular regard to effective and timely resolution of discipline, grievance, sickness and performance management casework, which may occasionally be complex and sensitive requiring tact and diplomacy
  • Advise managers in ER issues up to and including stage 2 of formal processes.
  • To ensure casework is progressed in line with Key Performance Indicators, including the ability to lean and complete highquality casework within agreed timescales which will require selfmanagement, influencing managers through effective partnership working and a flexible approach
  • Responsible for ongoing realtime updating of internal databases and systems to ensure accurate information can be provided up to and including executive level
  • Responsible for delivering accurate and timely management information regarding all casework
  • To organise their workday to day activities/workload under supervision
  • Attend formal hearing / meetings in an advisory capacity where required.
  • Attend and contribute to local management team meetings by providing regular performance updates and challenging where appropriate.
  • Mentoring and coaching line managers, for example support/ delivery of people management training to upskill managers
  • Contribute to POD projects as directed by the Employment & Advice Business Partner.
  • Provide underpinning support to the People BPs as appropriate working as part of the team to enable them to deliver People and Force Strategies.
- maintains close liaison with the Force's Occupational Health Department, ensuring that any delays or issues with sickness absence cases are raised and actions out in place to assist resolution

  • Gather local intelligence and share with wider POD function.
  • Develop and produce reports for the People BPs with assistance from POD Business Analysts.
  • Contract and appoint staff and officers.
  • Act as a mentor for People Assistant and POD Apprentice.
  • Engage with wider force to ensure visibility and build relationships/ rapport with managers.
