The role


Children with complex needs service (Children with Disabilities & Short Breaks) teams work with families who have a child or young person aged 0-18 years with a diagnosed disability.

We provide a professional source of help and support to families with children and young people with a disability by:


Location
Hybrid working from London Borough of Lewisham, Kaleidoscope, 32 Rushey Green, London, SE6 4JF and working from home.


What we're looking for


You will learn to understand the workings of a team, completing business admin tasks and how to deal with public queries.

By the end of your apprenticeship, you will be skilled to work in a fast paced environment with the ability to multi task and deliver work to an outstanding standard.

Main Purpose of the job:

To provide administrative support to the Children with Complex Needs Service (Children with Disabilities /Short Breaks). Gain work experience, learning and development to increase your ability to achieve future work.


Summary of Main Responsibilities

  • To provide administrative support to the Children with Complex Needs Service, where needed.
  • To organise and coordinate meetings.
  • To support the administration of communication to children, young people, families, and relevant organisations including Local Offer, designing posters and leaflets and organising distribution of these. To review and update communication information when required.
  • Undertake telephone calls with families to ensure they are able to access short breaks for their children and young people.
  • To type documents, letters and reports as required.
  • To assist with consulting and communicating to disabled children and young person's groups.
  • To learn to organise, plan and deliver own tasks and workload effectively to meet agreed goals and timescales.
  • To demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills
  • To support with the administration of direct payments.
  • To ensure that confidential and businesssensitive information is managed effectively, under GDPR regulations.
  • To be competent in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel updating spreadsheets with appropriate data relevant to the children, young people and their families.
  • To exchange, process and report information accurately, concisely and in a timely manner.
  • Undertake telephone calls with service providers to ensure children and young people are able to access short breaks.
  • To attend training to improve professional development.
  • To participate in regular Supervision and Performance Appraisals in order to set objectives and help identify training needs.
  • To participate in service and other meetings as required and raise relevant issues.
  • Assist in carrying out the Council's environmental policy within the day to day activities of the post.
  • To undertake such duties and responsibilities of a similar level and responsibility as may be required.
  • To ensure that services are provided in accordance with the departmental standards and objectives of Quality Assurance with due regard to health and safety requirements
