(2 years Fixed Term)

We're looking for a Business Engagement Lead
to join our fabulous corporate affairs team, to work across Gatwick's business units and external strategic stakeholders to develop, trial and pilot the approaches and programmes required to deliver the Employment, Skills and Business Strategy, which underpins the benefits case of the Northern Runway Project.


What is the role?


As Business Engagement Lead you will be responsible for growing relationships with local business communities, encouraging collaboration across internal teams and key businesses within the Gatwick Family.

You will also work closely with the Employment Skills Lead to maximise the value add to the local community.


What will you do?
-
Procurement - collaborating with the Gatwick procurement team in the development and delivery of actions in relation to local procurement strategy and performance, maximising opportunities for local businesses to engage with the airport and its supply chain.

Innovation - establishing relationships with business representative agencies, seeking potential small business collaborators. Working with the IT Innovation Team on engagement/collaboration with the innovation ecosystem centred around Crawley Innovation Centre.

Gatwick Family - in collaboration with GAL business units, establish and maintain strong relationships with key companies on the airport campus (Gatwick Family) to establish an effective framework for engagement/communications across campus. This activity will directly engage these companies in the Employment Skills and Business Strategy approaches/programmes being developed and will support/enable the work of the Northern Runway Employment and Skills Lead role which will also require engagement across campus to deliver required outcomes.


Do you have what we're looking for?

  • Skilled and experienced collaborator working with Gatwick colleagues to build and maintain a repository of information in relation to the shape and health of the business community.
  • Ability to engage at senior, strategic level, providing relevant and timely briefings both internally and externally
  • An understanding of how businesses can successfully deliver economic and social value for local communities and how this can be harnessed to drive up local employment and skills development.
  • Experience of successfully developing, delivering, monitoring, evaluating and continuously improving initiatives aimed at maintaining and growing the health of businesses.
  • A practical understanding of how to connect successfully with key regional and local stakeholders with a role in supporting and building the business base and identify and roll out ways for Gatwick to collaborate and add value
  • Knowledge of how to contribute effectively to strategy and develop practical initiatives to drive up business productivity and growth and insights into how Gatwick can harness its assets in support notably its purchasing power and innovation and technology development functions.
  • Ability to work independently, under own initiative with energy and pace
  • Ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly and persuasively with colleagues and stakeholders across the full range of seniority levels to create consensus, but also to question and probe
  • Ability to successfully motivate colleagues and stakeholders, marshal enthusiasm and support for initiatives, deliver collaborative working and bring people along with you
  • Results focused, through collaboration and driving actions
