The Fostering Service is in the process of a significant transformation.

This includes the development of assessment, supervision and support teams across Mainstream Fostering and Permanence, as well as a digital transformation across the service.

As a result, there is an opportunity for a full-time Advanced Practitioner on the Mainstream Team.


It is an exciting time to play a key role in the support and practice development of the Fostering Service in driving forward the Stable Homes Agenda and further development of this service area.

You will be part of a specialist service committed to supporting Blackburn with Darwen looked after children, those children at the edge of care, and those with a plan of permanency through special guardianship.


There will be an expectation to engage in the active recruitment and training of foster carers and to further develop the ongoing support offer to our foster carers, connected carers and special guardians.

You will provide a high level of support and supervision of foster carers, connected carers and special guardians.


This is a great opportunity for an experienced social worker to support in driving forward excellent practice within Blackburn with Darwen Fostering Service.

We welcome applicants from all areas of children's and adult social work, however experience of fostering or connected care would be desirable.
