As an experienced midwife, the post holder will support the Matron for Quality and Safety in all aspects of patient safety and quality within the Directorate of Obstetrics; they will promote an environment of continuous quality improvement to ensure systems-based learning takes place in response to proactive risk management activities including: Assisting the Matron for Quality and Safety to deliver the annual assurance programme across the Directorate of Obstetrics which provides an independent test of compliance with regulatory and quality standards Working with internal and external partners to support assurance activities within the Directorate Supporting the Quality and Safety team to undertake proportionate reviews of care following patient safety incidents Timely identification of clinical risks and supporting the directorate senior team in robust and effective management of these risks Assisting in the resolution of patient complaints through investigation, clinical advice and written response in line with the Trusts Concerns and Complaints Policy Working autonomously within the NMC, Trust and Directorate Guidelines Championing professional accountability and standards, ensuring that professional practices are in line with the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), and Trust Policy.

Supporting and contributing to the development of patient care and midwifery practice within the Directorate. Supervising junior staff.

Contribute to Trust wide projects as required. Ensuring effective line management of staff and ensuring they are supported in performing to their full potential. Ensuring junior staff have appropriate support and supervision and are appropriately assessed. Complying with the Trusts vision, values and behavioural compact.
