An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Derbyshire County Councils Public Health Department to support the delivery of a new Integrated Care System (ICS) programme - Tobacco Dependency Treatment.

We are looking to appoint a Health Improvement Advisor to deliver Tobacco Dependency Treatment in mental health settings.


This is a unique opportunity to join a new, dynamic, and growing service which is looking for individuals with a passion and ability for supporting people to stop smoking.

The post will be based at Derby Royal Hospital, will involve regular travel across Derbyshire and home working.


You will require excellent communication and listening skills, with a knowledge of behaviour change and a good understanding of factors affecting health.

You will require experience of working independently and as part of a team. A good level of IT literacy will also be required to maintain accurate client records. Knowledge and experience of tobacco dependency and mental health would be advantageous for the role.

Provisional Interview Date: 21 August 2023

The job may require unsocial hours working including weekends and Bank Holidays. Payment arrangements will be detailed in any contract offer made.


Saturday and Sunday hours will be paid at plain time where it is part of your normal working pattern unless it is between 7pm and 7am, where enhanced rates of pay apply.

Enhanced pay rates are paid for Bank Holiday working.
