Job Summary
Your key responsibilities will include reading patient correspondence, identifying relevant clinical information and updating patient notes.
You will also be assisting the prescriptions team, and providing general secretarial support to our practice and business managers, GPs and health professionals.
Likewise you will be expected to treat all patients (& colleagues) with dignity and respect at all times and last, but by no means least, maintain the utmost levels of professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
Main Responsibilities and Duties
Main Workflow Duties
- Identify relevant clinical information contained in patient correspondence
- Code or free text the clinical information on to the patient record
- Deal with queries relating to coding
- Coordinate and prepare repeat prescriptions for our patients
- Data entry onto patient records
- Using EPS (electronic prescription service)
- Patient liaison
- Community pharmacy liaison
- Process letters relating to medication changes requested by our secondary care (hospital) colleagues
- Provide an efficient copy typing and word processing service for GPs and health professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, memorandums, etc. in an accurate and quality manner.
- Assist the business manager with all clerical and administrative duties.
- Make appointments, bookings and admissions as required.
- File patient records and correspondence in patient medical records.

Essential
- Exceptional organisational and prioritising skills, combined with top level attention to detail
- Strong literacy and computer skills
Desirable
- Prior experience within primary care would be advantageous, but not essential
- Experience with clinical IT systems
