Monday - Friday 16:00-00:00 5 Night per week (37.5 Hours)

£30ph Weekdays, £35ph Nights, £40ph Bank Holidays


The Lighthouse offers a self-referral, drop in service for anyone who feels they are experiencing a mental health crisis with no exclusion criteria.

This is complimented by our innovative virtual service, enabling support to be offered via text and telephone alongside the face to face element.


Main duties of the job
The primary function of this role is to provide clinical leadership to the day-to-day operation of The Lighthouse team.

The Lighthouse is a partnership service delivered between Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and Solent Mind. The service will be open from 4.30pm until midnight 7 days per week.


Job responsibilities
Working with people in significant emotional distress to support them to access their own resources to keep themselves safe.

Working as part of The Lighthouse team to create an emotionally and physically safe environment for people to engage in peer support and self-management whilst access The Lighthouse.

To work, alongside peer specialists in a socially inclusive way alongside in line with the principles of The Lighthouse.

To skilfully and sensitively ensure people accessing The Lighthouse agree to and adhere to code of conduct

To be able to communicate clearly with a diverse group of people whether it is people accessing The Lighthouse or from other agencies.

Promoting and participating in highly skilled brief-solution focused approaches to managing crisis.
To encourage people to access support from carers friends, local community and provide signposting.
To identify needs of people with caring responsibilities and signpost to further support if required.
To effectively assess safety and risk plans and be able to identify when The Lighthouse is no longer able to meet a persons needs and when other services will be required to be involved (e.g. Mental Health Act Assessment, AMHT, Police or Ambulance, Safeguarding)
To participate in regular supervision and guidance with team and line manager
To build a good working knowledge of the mental health system in regards to statutory and third sector provision across Southampton


We also offer a £250 bonus for starting this contract this will be paid out to you after 150 hours completed (4 Weeks)
