Applications are invited for 3 LAT posts at ST4 (equivalent) level within the North of Scotland Anaesthetic Training Programme.


The North of Scotland Anaesthetic Training Programme is delivered through Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in Aberdeen and Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

These LAT posts are based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.


While every attempt will be made to allocate posts as suggested above, it may also be necessary for the appointees to rotate across the two hospital sites to broaden their clinical experience.

The posts will commence from 1st February 2023 until 1st August 2023.


Brief Description of the programme:

Aberdeen Royal Infirmary has most major surgical specialties on a single site.

In addition, there is a busy maternity unit at the Aberdeen Maternity Hospital and the Royal Aberdeen Children's hospital located within the main hospital campus.

There are 2 busy Intensive Care Units and trainees will get excellent experience managing critically ill patients.

Aberdeen is well served by air, rail and road and uniquely allow quick and easy access to the wild and spectacular scenery of Royal Deeside and the Highlands.

Aberdeen is also a vibrant modern city and is a great places to live and bring up families.
The Aberdeen Medical School is on site, with many opportunities to become involved in student teaching.

Students rotate through anaesthetics at various times in their degree programme, and anaesthetic trainees are often actively involved in delivering medical education.

The Postgraduate Dean confirms that this placement and / or programme has the required educational and Postgraduate Dean's approval.
