Senior Merchandiser - Grocery
PP)

The Grocery Business Unit Operations Team (BU Ops) directly owns or is responsible for coordinating, supporting and leading on behalf of the Grocery business unit within our Food Commercial Teams here at Sainsbury's.

They ensure that the category is strategically aligned, delivering to plan and operating consistently to standard processes and policies. As a Senior Merchandiser you will be reporting into the BU Ops Delivery Manager and work cross functionally with a variety of teams

What's particularly exciting about this role is the opportunity to lead ad-hoc merchandising projects within Grocery as and when required and build more complex planograms as workload demands.

Actively contribute to the 'Centre of Excellence' making the most of your merchandising resources to help Sainsbury's improve.

As a Senior Merchandiser you'll:

Support and train junior merchandisers to deliver merchandising excellence
Be the escalation point for category ranging & merchandising teams for issue resolution
Conduct appropriate analysis to inform the creation of category merchandising principles ensuring a broad mix of sources are referenced
Create a library of standardised merchandising principles
Work with Grocery to ensure all planograms adhere to corporate and category merchandising principles
Be a flexible resource for your BU conducting ad hoc projects or supporting with planogram creation and champion corporate merchandising change programmes
Be responsible for signing off complex merchandising plans
Support junior merchandisers with live build presentations

Our BU Operations Grocery team would love to see:

Knowledge of merchandising software JDA (or other space planning software) is preferred but not essential as we will happily support with training on this
Project management exposure, adding value to complex projects supporting them to completion
Comfortable with numbers and quick to adapt to tools and systems easily
PC literate with good knowledge of Excel
An understanding of how customers shop and navigate fixtures and how we can make it easier
