Salary Scale:
£12.28 per hour (for qualified Sports Coach) - FTE £23,945.03 or
£20,722.50

Introduction
Kings Monkton School is the oldest independent school in Cardiff and is a

co-educational establishment for pupils aged 3-18.

From 2013, KMS has been the fastest growing independent school in the UK and has moved from an adequate rating under ESTYN to consistently achieving excellent.


We are a mainstream school with ALN status and take pupils funded by the Local Authority, with IDPs, as well as privately funded and Tier 4 children.

In 2019 we underwent a Management Buyout with the Principal and Vice Principal purchasing the school.

Kings Monkton School consistently has 300 pupils on roll.

We are an inclusive school with no entrance examination - our philosophy is that all pupils can learn and succeed as long as differentiation is appropriate.

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant and PE Sports Coach with experience and expertise in leading and coaching sports and PE sessions, as well s prepared to support the Duke of Edinburgh Award and its expeditions.

As the Sports Coach, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality physical education lessons to pupils across all age groups, ensuring they develop their physical skills, fitness, and knowledge of a range of sports and activities, as well as a range of mixed students in examination classes.


In addition to your coaching responsibilities, you will have a key role in supporting fixtures and sporting events outside of the school.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning, preparation, and delivery of engaging and inclusive PE lessons to pupils of all abilities.
  • To be responsible for celebrating achievement in Physical Education.
  • To be responsible for Learning and Teaching, Homework and Marking/Assessments for small groups of pupils across year groups.
  • Assess pupils' progress and provide constructive feedback to support their individual development.
  • Create a positive and safe learning environment that promotes physical activity, teamwork, and fair play.
  • Organise and lead extracurricular sports clubs, teams, and competitions.
  • Stay updated with current trends, research, and best practices in physical education.
  • To be a First Aider (training will be available).
  • To be a minibus Driver with a PSV License (training will be available)
  • To support the development and operational organisation of the DoE Award.
  • To be fully engage in active safeguarding around the school and offsite visits.
