**Safeguarding Coordinator- Woodhouse College
Purpose**The purpose of this post will be to take the lead in coordinating and managing safeguarding cases and processes in accordance with the College's safeguarding and child protection policy.
The post will involve working flexibly and collaborating closely with parents/carers and other agencies through joint planning and monitoring of child protection arrangements.
Main Duties
Safeguarding:
- Act as the first point of contact for any safeguarding protection concerns, providing timely, relevant support and advice in order to safeguard the student.
- Advise and support all staff in the event of a child protection disclosure.
- Work closely with the student services team in identifying, monitoring and supporting a student at risk to monitor their emotional and social behaviour, health and wellbeing.
- Risk assess each safeguarding situation presented to ensure that the student is safeguarded and supported adequately and appropriately.
- Contribute to the safeguarding aspect of students' personal development.
- Promote safeguarding to students and staff within College.
- Contribute to any review of our safeguarding approaches, promoting personcentred safeguarding practices and ensure continued compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Keep informed of current legislation, statutory and other guidance with regards to safeguarding, child and adult protection, cascading the information accordingly. This also applies with regards to data protection and confidentiality.
- Liaise between teams and individual staff members in matters related to looked after children, children at risk and children on a child protection plan. Ensure the needs of these students are identified and addressed at the College.
- Contribute to half termly reports to the Trust/Governors on the current position of students involved in: Child Protection, Child in Need, and vulnerable students.
Policy and procedure:
- Attend internal safeguarding related meetings.
- Input into the design of safeguarding systems, policies and procedures.
- Implement best practice in relation to safeguarding.
- Attend safeguarding training.
External Agencies:
- Make referrals.
- Maintain updated lists of external agencies.
- Establish and maintain a working relationship with relevant statutory, voluntary and community agencies; maintain up to date, accurate, confidential records.
- Attend external meetings as necessary
Fitness to Study:
- Develop and write Additional Needs Individual Support Plans (ANISP).
- Liaise with and meet when required, parents, carers, external agencies and medical professionals for information, to implement the plan and review its suitability.
To promote and safeguard the welfare of students in the College:
- Act as assistant lead designated safeguarding person in the College.
- Provide advice and support to other staff on issues relating to safeguarding.
- Receive level 3 training in safeguarding issues and interagency working, as required by the LSCB.
- Maintain accurate and uptodate records.
MyConcern:
- Record accurately concerns on the systems provided by the College and update these as necessary.
- Maintain oversight and scrutiny of the safeguarding and incident logs and review incidents as required.
- Liaise with College departments as part of the ongoing monitoring and support for students when there has been a safeguarding concern.
