Description

The purpose of the role of
Trainee Computing Lecturer is to lead, teach and assist in the development of courses which fall within the programme area.


Responsibilities include:


  • To design and deliver a wide range of effective and inclusive teaching and learning activities
  • To assess the work and progress of all students and provide them with constructive and timely feedback
  • To undertake research and/or scholarly activity that feeds directly into teaching and learning and as agreed by the Head of School/Department
  • Work proactively to forward the success and vision of the department
  • To be responsible for the supervision and leadership of an outstanding student experience on campus including monitoring attendance, progress and retention
  • To act as an academic and pastoral tutor as specified by the Head of School/Department
  • To ensure that the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students is successfully completed and in a timely manner and in line with college policies.
  • Devise individual learning plans and provide support for learners in line with the requirements of the curriculum.
  • To participate in all recruitment and marketing activities as specified by Head of School/Department
These duties may be amended from time to time by the line manager in consultation with the post holder

Education & Training

  • Degree or equivalent in Computing related discipline and the proven track record of delivering computing courses to both FE and HE students.


  • GCSE A

  • C (59) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Math or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A
  • C) or prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale.


  • GCSE A

  • C (59) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in English or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A
  • C) or prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

Experience

  • Academic or industrial or commercial experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Cloud Computing
  • Programming
  • Security
  • Data Analytics
  • Business Analysis
  • DevOps
  • IoT
  • Software Defined Networking
