Terence, a young adult born in 2000, lives with his Mother, Father and younger brother. He has a great sense of humour and is a very friendly person who enjoys spending time with people.

He likes to play with some of his favourite toys to help him relax and chill out but his favourite games are those that involve interaction with people.

Terence likes a relaxed and calm environment that isn't too noisy with too many people as he likes to be with people who are familiar to him.

Terence is dependent on others for all of his care needs. Whilst at present, he has limited verbal communication, he is able to make his likes, dislikes/discomfort known. He is very unsteady on his feet and requires 2:1 for walking and transfers, and is a wheelchair-user.

He has learning disabilities and would like a Support Worker who can understand and support him with his complex epilepsy and medical needs.

He likes time to process information as he feels this is really important to him.

Day Role

  • The role is to provide safe and effective care and support within the family environment and to provide Terence's parents with reassurance that their child is receiving a high quality of care. The person employed should be highly competent and experienced in the management of epilepsy and alert to the need of when to seek further help.
  • Terence requires help with all activities of daily living (including personal care and administering medication) and also requires assistance to enable him to access play, learning and social activities. The role will be varied and will involve going out in the local community, either just with our client and another support worker, or accompanying the family on an outing. You will also be required to follow therapy programmes as advised by Terence's group of therapists and carry out domestic duties as required. This job will suit someone who is calm but very proactive and able to bring lots of enthusiasm to the role.
    Summary
  • This is wonderful opportunity to join a supportive family and care team where you can make a real difference to Terence's life by maximising his opportunities and promoting his independence wherever possible, a truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and an ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion
