As a Logistics Coordinator, you will be primarily responsible for producing export documentation to support the distribution of medical equipment and ancillaries, to destinations all over the world.

You will be incredibly organised, a great communicator and have a strong attention to detail. You will have a wide knowledge of export procedures and experience of exporting to complex countries.

Avantor is looking for an experienced Logistics Coordinator to be primarily responsible for producing export documentation to support the distribution of medical equipment and ancillaries, to destinations all over the world.

The role will be a full-time, hybrid position with occasional travel to our MESM, Chorley site.

Avantor's Logistics Coordinator is part of a team of 17, with a high-performing culture that is responsible for all export activities.


What we're looking for

  • 3 years of relevant experience gained in a similar role, producing documentation for the exporting of parcels & pallet type consignments on a truly global basis, including exporting to complex countries.
  • Detailed understanding of Incoterms, Customs and Export Regulations and associated Compliance requirements.
  • Experience of booking shipments and liaising with Fast Parcel Operators and Freight Forwarders.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience to intermediate level, in all Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel & Outlook and ability to quickly pick up inhouse systems.
  • Excellent organisation skills and can document, handle, prioritise and deal with a high volume of work.
  • The ability to work proactively and drive others to achieve results.
  • Strong attention to detail and a tenacity to be accurate.
  • A good standard of education, quick learner, and ability to quickly pick up new processes.
  • It would also be a great advantage if the employee:
  • Has experience of shipping to the EU post Brexit.
  • Holds vocational logistics / export qualifications.
  • Is fluent in a second or third language.

How you will thrive and create an impact


The Logistics Coordinator prepares & appropriately records & files, all export shipping documentation (including consular documents etc.) for EU & ROW shipping of parcels and pallets ensuring all Customs requirements are met.

Communicates with relevant stakeholders regarding shipments to expedite deliveries and meet OTIF targets.

Makes transport bookings for outbound and inbound shipments, using the most cost effect method of transport.

Provides timely & accurate carrier/freight shipping quotations & proforma invoices as required. Calculate duties & taxes as applicable.


Liaises with third parties such as IOR's, Customs Agents, Brokers and Carriers & Freight Forwarders to ensure accuracy of documentation and to expedite deliveries.

Updates the system with shipping information, complete compliance filing and update relevant spreadsheets etc.

Assists with resolving any delays with outbound shipping - communicating effectively with the wider business as appropriate.

Keeps abreast of changes to customs requirements, tariff / commodity codes etc. using various sources such as HMRC & Tates Guide etc.

Provides cover and assist with tracking and tracing and producing relevant reports for the wider business.

Carries out invoice verification for shipments, ensuring that the Invoice value matches the standard or the cost quoted.


Manages shared mailboxes in line with requirements ensuring timely and accurate responses and ensuring the mailbox is accurately categorised and filed Completes other ad-hoc duties as and when required.
