SEN Teacher required for Specialist School in Exeter


Timeplan Education are working with a specialist school in Exeter to recruit a qualified and experienced SEN Teacher with a background in PMLD to start in April 2023 on a long term basis that could lead to a permanent role.


Prior experience of teaching small class sizes of students that have profound special needs including ASD, VI, HI, SLD and PMLD is essential for this role.

Your role will be to Identify learners' individual needs and being responsible for creating a safe,stimulating and supportive learning environment.

The successful SEN Teacher will be supported by a team of specialist SEN Teaching Assistants to assist with specific needs.

You will need to be highly organised and able to plan, model and deliver outstandingteaching. The successful SEN Teacher will also need to be resilient, positive and nurturing.


This role of SEN Teacher is full-time, Monday to Friday - 8:30am to 4.0pm on a term time basis starting on 17th April 2023.

This role could become permanent.


The daily pay rate is between £150 and £240 per day (inclusive of holiday pay) depending on experience.

What you can expect from this position:

  • Teach either individuals or small groups
  • Prepare lessons plan and resources
  • Mark and assess work
  • Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils
  • Use specialist skills, such as teaching Braille to pupils with visual impairments or sign language and lip reading to students who have hearing impairments
  • Collaborate with the other teachers to define appropriate activities for the pupils in relation to the curriculum
  • Liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists
  • Work closely with parents and guardians
  • Liaise with the admin staff to organise learning outside the classroom in activities such as community visits, school outings or sporting events
  • Assist in severely disabled pupils' personal care/medical needs
Carry out administrative tasks, including updating and maintaining records of pupils' progress


Requirements:


  • QTS or equivalent
  • Experience of teaching 1116 year olds
  • Experience of teaching PMLD students
