Age Cymru have an exciting opportunity and are recruiting for a
Carers Project Officer (Fixed Term until 31/03/2025).

The successful post holder will be assisting Age Cymru in the continuation of this important programme of work by engaging with older carers across Wales, carers of people living with dementia and carers of people who have moved to live in a residential care home, to deliver one to one information and advice as part of the Welsh Government Sustainable Social Services Grant funded project between Age Cymru and Carers Trust Wales.

This vital role requires a customer focused, self-driven and proactive individual with excellent communication and influencing skills.

Building upon our existing learning of the caring sector and to further develop our approach around caring services and support, you will be developing relationships with carers to promote shared learning and best practice.

This exciting project involves developing and implementing a programme of engagement sessions with older carers across Wales, including the development of promotional materials.

You will also create a final report capturing the findings from these engagement events to support commissioners and service providers to better understand and meet the needs of older carers.


This post is based in Cardiff and will involve regular travel across Wales, working 28 hours per week, please note advertised Salary is pro rata.

You will have:

  • Previous experience of a Project Officer role
  • Awareness of the issues facing older people and carers.
  • Knowledge of the current health and social care agenda in Wales and how this affects older people.
  • Influencing skills, including the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal partners and relevant stakeholders to meet project objectives
  • An understanding of research methodology, ethics, data coding and recording.
  • Experience of service development and implementation
  • An ability to evaluate services, produce reports and recommend improvement actions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to write clear and concise reports
  • Good IT skills, including proven ability to use Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work proactively and on own initiative
