We have exciting opportunities for 2 Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapists to join our Service to Schools to cover maternity leave.

If you have experience of working with children with ASD, and enjoy the challenge of enabling schools and families to provide the best support for their children, then you will enjoy working in our team.

The successful applicants will become part of our ASD team, providing specialist support and intervention for children and young people attending Resourced Provisions within schools.

Training of school staff is an important aspect of these roles.

They will also join the core service to schools, which has recently received additional funding.

Currently, this is an assessment service, but we are working towards changing the model to work more closely with allocated schools to enable them to support children with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs.

We are also in the process of introducing parent workshops to support parents to understand how best they can help their children.

If you have excellent interpersonal skills, awareness and sensitivity to the needs of clients from a range of ethnic and linguistic backgrounds and are willing and able to work flexibly, we would like to hear from you.

  • To provide a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to children within the Service to Schools.
  • To provide highly specialist SLT service to children and young people with autism.
  • Deputise for the Clinical Lead & other Highly Specialist SLTs when appropriate.
  • To work with senior Speech and Language Therapy staff to develop the service to children in primary and secondary mainstream schools, supporting staff less experienced in this area.

The service is ever-developing and the successful applicants will have the opportunity to help to support junior members of staff and to work together with other highly specialist SLTs to shape the service delivery.

Just last year, the multi-disciplinary team won the ELFT Commissioner's Award for Improving Population Health, a tribute to our hard work and commitment.

Newham is close to London's Olympic Park, and Stratford Station has excellent transport links with the rest of London and Essex.

The Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service has a strong multi-agency work ethic with other services both within the trust and with partner agencies, and offers services across a wide range of care groups in the borough.

Newham has a diverse and culturally rich community.
