WHAT TO EXPECT


Due to the continued growth of the Propulsion Software and Controls Systems department, JLR are now seeking a second Propulsion Control System Design Chapter Head (Senior Manager) to evolve the body of knowledge, toolchain and skills required to develop and deploy the control systems for propulsion on the entire HEV and BEV vehicle range.


As Chapter Head, you will be responsible for the Chapter Leads who will lead the specific control system design teams across Propulsion, planning with them the recruitment and development of necessary skills by means of training and coaching.


Your department will be responsible for process alignment and development across the wider department and across Engineering as a whole.


THE ROLE
Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the creation and leadership of the Propulsion Control System Design Chapter.
  • Passionate and driven to create a true crosspropulsion chapter strongly collaborating across Engineering to accelerate our capability growth.
  • Building a control system community with technical excellence at its heart and where best practice is shared by default.
  • An evangelist, providing an inspiring vision and delivering value through a clear forward looking technology roadmap.
  • Embracing and enabling true Agile methodology through people, process and tool development.
  • Leading the adoption of System Engineering across the development and full product life cycles in support of our quality goals.
  • Realising vertical integration of our software delivery by providing the skills, processes and toolsets required to deliver world class high integrity software.
  • Building powerful linkages with equivalent chapters in Electrical Engineering and Body Chassis to harness synergies and ensure an aligned and consistent approach to System Engineering, Control System Design and Functional Safety.
  • Providing strong alignment with the product domains, ensuring current and future capability requirements are met.
  • Developing a truly global propulsion organisation leveraging the availability of skills across JLR, Tata and external markets.
  • Ensure strong relationships with academia, providing a clear career path for the best talent into JLR and up skilling for chapter members.
  • Coach, mentor and support your team by creating an environment of growth, wellbeing, technical curiosity and excellence that empowers your team to deliver high quality control system solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Great communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas and solutions to different audiences.
  • A comfortable and confident stakeholder management approach.
  • The drive and desire to continuously learn and improve.
  • Experience in leading technical teams and developing well thought out and straightforward solutions to complex problems.
  • Capability to work effectively at both operational and strategic level.
  • Strong control system and/or calibration experience.
Desirable

  • Experienced with agile frameworks (SCRUM, Kanban, or SAFE) and Agile planning tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience in delivering automotive HW/SW integrated products.
  • Knowledge of vehicle systems and propulsion architectures.
  • Experience of software development.
