We are looking for a Catering Assistant to join our team of 12 members of staff, working flexibly and on a rota basis across our four on-site catering locations.
The Catering Assistant will contribute to the achievement of the team's objectives, providing an effective, efficient and customer-focused catering service, which is courteous, responsive and meets the needs of the customers at all times.
The role will include preparing, setting up and serving food, assisting with moving and setting up dining furniture, cleaning kitchen equipment and dining furniture, shared responsibility for cashier-type duties, assisting the canteen and lunchtime organisers, excellent customer service skills to provide a welcoming and efficient service, and maintaining the associated catering areas in accordance with food hygiene, COSHH and health and safety regulations.
WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU:
- Experience of working in a catering environment, preferably within a school, or the ability and enthusiasm to learn quickly;
- Ideally have at least a Level 2 Qualification in Food Safety in Catering, or the ability to attain it;
- Be confident operating a basic PC, for use with the online cashiertype duties;
- A good team player who is flexible and organised and able to work unsupervised using their own initiative as needed;
- Supportive of colleagues and able to deal skilfully with unanticipated situations;
- Professional and approachable with good communication skills;
- A positive approach to all aspects of the work;
- Great customer service skills to provide a welcoming and efficient service to students and staff;
- Supportive of the school's excellent staff attendance and punctuality record;
