The Rheinmetall Vehicle Systems Division (VSD) consists of two legal entities; Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV), represented in the UK by Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles UK (RMMV UK), and Rheinmetall Land Systems (RLS) which is responsible for tracked tactical vehicles and turreted systems.

RLS is represented in the UK by Rheinmetall Defence UK (RDUK).

A vacancy has arisen for a Project Controller to join the growing RDUK team in Bristol.

Reporting to the Programme Management Office (PMO) lead, the Project Controller will be responsible for the successful co-ordination of one or more projects assigned to them, together with the management of their inter-dependencies, stakeholders and customers.


Working closely with Project Managers and supported by the PMO lead, the Project Controller will assume responsibility for managing and reporting the six key aspects of their projects, i.e.

scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality and resources.


Position Responsibilities:


Responsibility for the timely provision of programme and contractual deliverables, performance metrics, progress reports and data/information in support of the key performance indicators associated with their projects.

Development and maintenance of the project plans necessary to support each individual project for which they are responsible.

Ensuring all project and contractual artefacts are delivered within schedule, budget, performance and quality constraints.


Understanding of the project budget, ensuring cost allocation to the appropriate task and work breakdown structure together with articulation of the cause of any variances experienced by the project and associated recovery schemes.


Providing support to the project teams in order to resolve any cost, schedule, commercial and performance issues and provide intervention and/or escalation when appropriate.

Establish and develop key stakeholder relationships and communicate clearly and effectively project performance and progress.

Proactively and effectively manage project risks, with clear definition of risk description, cause, consequences and identified mitigations.

Provision of project performance and metric updates in support of management, customer and other stakeholder reviews.

Ensure any applicable project key performance indicators are reported with the appropriate evidence captured.


Key Competencies:


The individual appointed will be expected to demonstrate the necessary skills, experience and willingness to learn to be able to take on the responsibilities associated with the role.

The balance of skills required may evolve as programmes develop.


Experience & Educational Requirements:
An ability to create, maintain and report project schedules using Microsoft Project.


An ability to manage and report risk using a risk management tool (such as Active Risk Manager (ARM)), and to conduct a Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA).

Effective communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels, both written and verbal.

An understanding of change and change management techniques.

Project Management qualifications would be desirable (APMP, PRINCE etc).

An understanding of the process of Earned Value Management (EVM) would be desirable.

Engineering background desirable but not essential.
