Reporting to:
Senior Health & Safety Manager


Responsibilities:


  • Carrying out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced
  • Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards
  • Carrying out regular site inspections to confirm policies and procedures are being properly implemented/riskbased inspections
  • Ensuring working practices are safe and comply with legislation
  • Assisting in the preparation of health and safety procedures and develop internal policy
  • Coordinating inhouse training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks
  • Keeping records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements
  • Recording incidents and accidents for statistics to be produced for managers
  • Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry
  • Assisting in the production of management reports, newsletters, and bulletins
  • Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise and occupational diseases.
  • Supporting Line Management in compliance with accident & investigation process and assisting where required in the collation of evidence
  • Supporting Line Management in undertaking Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS), Line Management checks, Line Management safety tours
  • Any reasonable request for the good and benefit of the organisation

Essential Skills & Experience:


  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety or equivalent
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (IOSH; IRSM)
  • Driving licence essential for jobs involving travel between sites
  • Experience in working for a collective goal as a team and equally reliable to work alone.
