Reporting to:
Senior Health & Safety Manager
Responsibilities:
- Carrying out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced
- Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards
- Carrying out regular site inspections to confirm policies and procedures are being properly implemented/riskbased inspections
- Ensuring working practices are safe and comply with legislation
- Assisting in the preparation of health and safety procedures and develop internal policy
- Coordinating inhouse training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks
- Keeping records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements
- Recording incidents and accidents for statistics to be produced for managers
- Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry
- Assisting in the production of management reports, newsletters, and bulletins
- Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise and occupational diseases.
- Supporting Line Management in compliance with accident & investigation process and assisting where required in the collation of evidence
- Supporting Line Management in undertaking Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS), Line Management checks, Line Management safety tours
- Any reasonable request for the good and benefit of the organisation
Essential Skills & Experience:
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety or equivalent
- Membership of a relevant professional body (IOSH; IRSM)
- Driving licence essential for jobs involving travel between sites
- Experience in working for a collective goal as a team and equally reliable to work alone.

- Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in order to explain health and safety processes to a range of people and to give presentations to groups
- The ability to understand and analyse complex information and present it simply and accurately

- Good risk assessment skills / knowledge
