Description
Memory Meet Up is a community-based activity in Enfield designed for people with Dementia and their carers. It takes place on Wednesday mornings fortnightly with themed activities including arts, crafts, quizzes, and interactive speakers and sessions.

The role of a Memory Meet Up volunteer:1) Help with the setting up of the venue, tables and activity.

2) To liaise with MMU lead and to check the itinerary for the morning's events, and what is expected of them for the session.

3) Meet and greet clients and their carers or companions, take drink orders and distribute refreshments.

4) Once the session has commenced, the volunteer should remain with a given table to direct and instruct clients and to assist with activities and the client's needs.

5) Help clear up and pack away at the end of the session and support in the kitchen with the washing up etc.


This will suit someone with good interpersonal and communication skills and particularly someone who has a background in care services or are interested in learning skills with a view to developing a career in social care but this isn't a requirement.


Time Commitment
2.5-3 hours per session fortnightly (there are other opportunities if you would like to volunteer more hours

Requirements:

A DBS Enhanced check will be required. Training to be provided around safeguarding.


Other Information
Travel costs and other volunteering expenses will be covered.
