Description

Dampneys Ltd are seeking a competent full time Driver Trainer, with an emphasis on Health and Safety to help support the delivery of our services in a continual safe and efficient manner.

This is a home based role requiring regular and frequent travel to operational sites with in a 60 mile radius of Yeovil.

Transport provided.


We are licensed Category 2 and Category 3 hazardous waste carrier and experts in the recycling of bio-solids for the water industry.


This is a hands on / face to face role which requires an experienced and dynamic individual, keen to identify and deliver change.


The role's main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the management team, directors and employees to ensure health and safety compliance across the sites we work on.
  • Carry out driver induction training.
  • Monitor driver health and safety compliance, including tachographs and complete driving assessments (preemployment and quarterly, including eye sight checks).
  • Carrying out vehicle, depot and site audits. Reporting findings, creating action plans and monitoring progress.
  • Report accident and training KPIs at team meetings.
  • Investigate accidents, record, monitor and track remedial actions.
  • Developing and implementing an ISO Management Systems to further enhance our reputation and processes.
  • Assist rolling out FORS standard across the company.
  • Assist with the recruitment, training and management of our employees.
  • Liaising with third party agencies to supply labour support when required.
  • Assist at an operational level (HGV / Machine op) to cover absenteeism where and when required.
  • Delivering exceptional training, ensuring all employees and contractors have the required training and sufficient skills to complete their duties safely and efficiently (including DCPC).
  • Conducting toolbox talks and safety briefings including site inductions.
  • Liaising with Customers' representatives and being a representative of Dampneys.
  • Identifying issues in efficiency and suggest improvements.
  • Organising workflow by assigning responsibilities and working to schedules.
  • Ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce remains a number one priority.
  • Regularly review, update and train out the companies library of risk assessments and method statements.
  • Assist with the creation of various operational and instructional manuals.
  • Where required update policies and procedures where necessary.
  • Encourage, enforce, monitor and record PPE usage.
  • Cover for the Transport Manager and Contract Manager as required.


Salary dependant on experience and qualifications but will include a vehicle as this role will cover numerous depots across the South West.

Preference will be given to those with a recognised training / assessing / health and safety qualification (Managing Safely etc)

£30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
