An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Haematology team at Salford Care Organisation as a trainee Advanced Care Practitioner.

You will be supported with fully funded training to obtain your MSc in Advanced Practice.

The training programme is 24 months combining university lectures with work-based placements, providing you with many personal development opportunities. You will be supported by the dedicated Haematology team and have a Medical consultant mentor.


We are keen to appoint a trainee advanced practitioner with previous Haematology experience and clinical skills wishing to progress their career in this chosen specialist.

On completion of the ACP training the post will progress to Band 7 to Band 8a.

  • The post holder will practice under supervision as a trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner to provide high quality patient centered care. This will utilise advanced assessment, diagnostic and treatment skills within an agreed scope of practice.
  • The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will be responsible for rapid clinical assessment of unwell patients, and assessment of patients receiving chemotherapy. This will be on the Haematology unit, dedicated pre chemotherapy clinics and telephone consultations.
  • The post holder will facilitate IV Iron clinics delivered on the Haematology unit.
  • The post holder will have the opportunity to learn and develop practical procedural skills such as bone marrow biopsies and PICC line insertion.
  • The post holder will have opportunity to attend the Nonmedical authorisation of blood products course.
  • The post holder will complete the Nonmedical prescribing course and under supervision gain experience in prescribing chemotherapy.
  • The post holder will be involved service development, driving, and supporting innovative changes in the management of Haematology patients
  • The post holder will gain experience in patient reviews in outpatient clinics
  • The post holder will be encouraged to partake in research and audit.
