  • Swiss Gardens Primary School is looking to recruit a Special Eduational Needs (SEN) Learning Support Assistant to work on a onetoone basis and/or small group basis with pupils who have an Edcuation, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • The school is creative, caring and inclusive and this post will involve day to day support as well as delivering bespoke additional support through interventions. We want someone who can demonstrate a good standard of English and Maths, enjoys working with children, is flexible, adaptable and able to work successfully in a team. The hours of work will be Monday-Friday, 8.45a.m p.m., inclusive of lunchtime supervision.
  • Desirable Criteria:
  • Must have level 2 or 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent
  • GCSE grade C or above in English and Mathematics (or equivalent qualification/knowledge)
  • Experience of the Learning Support role in schools is essential or the ability to demonstrate that you have the necessary skills required to fulfil the role.
  • A knowledge and understanding of how children develop
  • How to support children with Special Educational Needs
  • The ability to motivate children
  • Is able to provide a child with quality learning opportunities to close the gap in their attainment between them and their peers (as appropriate) and improve life outcomes
  • Are caring, positiveminded with a solutionfocused approach, and able to stay calm at all times.
  • Are able to reduce a child's anxiety by preempting situations or giving reassurance at times of worry
  • Are resilient and resourceful
  • Are able to make and use visual aids such as timetables and reward systems with the child
  • Are able to build positive relationships with parents/carers, school staff and outside agencies and work as part of a team
