Domestic abuse will affect one in four women during their lifetime and this figure is likely to be much higher.

Currently three women a week are killed by a former or current partner. Domestic abuse and violence against women and girls are some of the most pressing social issues of our time.

Maldon District Council are committed to supporting survivors and tackling perpetrator behaviour across all our services and have an exciting opportunity to do just that.


You will work closely with services across the Council to continue the review of our services for survivors of Domestic Abuse and to deliver our Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) Accreditation.

You will be responsible for ensuring accreditation is then maintained year on year and ensure training for Domestic Abuse Champions is maintained and updated.


You will work within the housing team with frontline Housing Officers and managers to understand the complexity and challenges of Domestic Abuse in our District.

Supporting survivors who are placed in emergency accommodation to access specialist services from Domestic Abuse charities, make claims for benefits and grants and will help resolve tenancy issues and work to ensure residents are accessing Sanctuary works where it is safe to remain in or return to the home.


Requirement to attend partnership meetings including MARAC, SETDAB and Next Chapter to transform our response to those facing homeliness due to Domestic Abuse.

You may also be required to support perpetrators and alleged perpetrators who present for housing assistance.

You will also lead on meetings with all of our major registered housing providers and promote services and support available to sustain tenancy's and remain in the home where it is safe to do so.


There will be an element of data management reporting to enable us to understand needs and to enable services to be shaped to the needs of our residents.

You will share our ambition to make our clients safer sooner by supporting a coordinated response to safeguarding complexities. You will understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and children.

You will have a passion about the importance and the relevance of DAHA accreditation and be able to deliver the outcomes needed for accreditation.


The role will require you to work across council services and partner organisations and we're looking for someone who can manage their own learning and build positive relationships.

You will challenge how we do things and develop creative solutions.
