Description
We are looking for a motivated, self-reliant individual to help support the work of the Centre. You will provide day-to-day support by taking responsibility for, and assisting with, a wide range of administrative tasks. You will be highly organised, pro-active and have the ability to constantly re-prioritise your work according to demands.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Act as first point of contact for queries to the Centre for Doctoral Training.
  • Liaise closely with internal and external colleagues to facilitate planning and delivery of CDT induction, training programmes and the CDT Annual Conference.
  • Ensure effective timetabling and calendar management for CDT training programmes.
  • Manage student enrolment and content on VLE systems for CDT units.
  • Independently collect, collate, organise and report on training programme assessments.
  • Liaise with students to support engagement with and delivery of the CDT training programme.
  • Coordinate meetings, data and reports for the CDT Management Group, Industry Advisory Board, Staff/Student Committee, Academic Progression Committee and external examiners.
  • Liaise with key contacts in the wider University to support student registration, payments and progression, and project contracts and invoicing.
  • Process student expenses, issue purchase orders, and maintain budget planning documents.
  • Maintain information and documentation in compliance with GDPR. This includes manual and electronic records, databases, computerised information systems and reports.
  • Prioritise own work to meet deadlines.
  • Be an active member of Management Group and meetings, providing support including developing agendas, producing minutes and following up delivery of actions.
  • Proactively seek new training and development opportunities
  • Work with the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) and central Post Graduate Research (PGR) Student Support Teams in delivery of your role.

  • Any other duties, commensurate with the grade of the post.
