What You'll be Doing Each Day:

As a Shipping Administrator you will support and jointly execute the shipping operations activities of the company's London-based trading and operations desk.


  • Types of shipment: Containers and bulk shipments
  • Typical geographies: Brazil, Central America, Thailand, South Africa, East Africa, Singapore (Head Office)
  • Support Operators with the execution of Purchase and Sales contracts under Incoterms
  • FOB, CIF, CFR, FCA with tasks which include:
  • Nominate vessels & container bookings against purchase and sales contracts
  • Appoint Cargo Surveyor and provide contractual supervision instructions for inspection of vessel holds or containers for cleanliness
  • Check weight, quality, perform sampling and analysis of cargo, produce certificates
  • Compile and send Documentary Instructions for shipping documents, which would include: Bills of Lading, Certificate of Origin, Supervision Certificates, Health Certificate, Insurance Certificates, Phytosanitary Certificates
  • Raise purchase and sales invoices in Trading, Administration, Accounting System (ITAS)
  • Present shipping documents to bank for payment, raise ancillary costs invoices: Freight, supervision, broker fees, insurances premiums.
  • Liaise constantly with Sellers, Buyers, Brokers, Supervision, Ships Agencies
  • Stock management handle delivery orders, invoices, payments, cash balance
  • Learn and develop knowledge of Demurrage and Despatch calculations on time allowed for bulk vessels
  • Train and develop skills and ability to enable independent Operations activities

The Skills You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Freight forwarding for containers and/or bulk cargo handling and administration experience preferable
  • Soft commodity experience advantageous
  • Competent IT Skills MS Office: Excel/ Word / In-House Trading / Administration system
  • ITAS
  • Sound Maths and English qualifications
  • Confident communicator, written and verbal
  • Flexible attitude
  • Good sense of team spirit
