Description
To work with and support the Clinical Matron, with clinical and operational management of day surgery

  • DTC (ward services, DTC theatres, sterile services, and Endoscopy), Andover day surgery unit, EDCU Basingstoke, Pre-Assessment in HHFT ensuring an efficient and productive service delivery in line with the strategic plans for the division and the Trust.


The post holder will be expected to support the Clinical Matron managing all members of the team and ensuring the quality of patient care is optimised with effective evidence-based standards and policies.


The Clinical and Operational Senior Lead will have a sound understanding of Pre-Assessment, day surgery, theatres, and ward practice in relation to external regulatory standards such as Care quality commission.

Role Description:


  • Providing high standards of professional practice maintaining appropriate codes of conduct and contribute to the leadership of an environment which supports positive, collaborative working.
  • To work closely with the Clinical Matron and Operational Service Manager in ensuring efficient and planned utilisation of all the theatre capacity including patient flow and bed management.
  • Ensure all Trust policies and procedures are adhered to and take immediate action where performance, conduct or attendance falls short of the expected standard.
  • Support the development and review of LocSSIPs, policies and protocols for the perioperative area in conjunction with the National Guidelines, recommendations, and evidencebased practice.
  • To support the band 7 team leaders with appraisal, personal development plans and objective setting ensuring staff development, learning and personal / professional growth.
  • Working with clinical matron and team leaders to ensure establishment trackers are up to date and assist in workforce planning
