This is a fantastic opportunity to join our forward-thinking, innovative, and friendly construction legal team based in Reading.

Reporting into the Head of Construction you will be responsible for advising on contractual projects, collaborating with contractors, developers, sub-contractors, and corporate clients.


Experience/ Attributes required
Have a degree or CILEX qualification.

  • Experience of working in a legal environment dealing with contracts and contract law is essential.
  • The abilityto work independently, have a proactive approach to the work.
  • Must enjoy a collaborative approach to work with the ability to build relationships quickly with clients and colleagues.
  • Be comfortable working under pressure with the ability to plan and prioritise work; have an appreciation of the needs and constraints of others in the team; and be commercially aware.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency within MS Office and Outlook and used to amending complicated construction contracts on a day to day basis.
  • Knowledge of commercial contracts and/or working within construction law team is essential.
  • Knowledge of construction legislation would be useful but not essential

Work type:


  • Supporting Head of team with a varied caseload of construction matters
  • Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing documentation
  • Building contracts, all the major standard forms, including JCT. NEC, FIDIC, MF/1, and ad hoc forms.
  • Professional team's terms of appointment both ad hoc and those based on professional organisations standard forms of appointment.
  • Subcontracts of all tiers
  • Collateral warranties
  • Parent Company Guarantees
  • Performance Bonds
  • Letters of Intent
  • Interface agreements
  • Development and Project Agreements and the construction provisions within Agreements for Lease
  • Organising and maintaining uptodate systems to ensure effective document management.
  • Used to working with tight deadlines and prepared to work outside of core working hours.
  • Conducting Legal research.
  • Contributing to the development of the Construction practice, including identifying opportunities for growth, and marketing the team's services

Up to £27,000.00 per year
