Cover Supervisor
30 hours per week termtime (+ INSET) 8.50am until 3.20pm
Level 7 (scp £26,845 - £29,439
Actual salary £19,039 - £20,878
Purpose of the Post
To provide classroom cover during the short-term absences.
Key Duties
1.
Supervision
- To supervise work that has been set by an appropriate teacher.
- To supervise work in accordance with the school's cover policy.
- To contribute to the selection and preparation of teaching resources that meet the diversity of pupils' needs and interests.
- To support teachers in evaluating pupils' progress through a range of monitoring and assessment.
- To monitor pupils' responses to learning tasks and modify the approach accordingly.
- To monitor pupils' participation and progress, providing feedback to teachers and giving constructive support to pupils as they learn.
- To contribute to maintaining and analysing records of pupils' progress.
- To interest and motivate pupils and advance pupils' learning using clearly structured teaching and learning techniques.
- To communicate effectively and sensitively with pupils to support their learning.
- To organise and manage safely the learning activities, the physical teaching space and resources for which they are given the responsibility.
- To promote and support the inclusion of all pupils, for example those with special educational needs, pupils from minority ethnic groups and those with disabilities, in the learning activities in which they are involved.
- To recognise and respond to equal opportunities issues as they arise including by challenging or harassment, following relevant policies and procedures.
2.
Behaviour Management
- To manage the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment.
- To report back as appropriate using the school's agreed referral procedures on behaviour of pupils during the class and any issue arising.
3.
Classroom Support
- To respond to any questions from pupils about process and procedures.
- To deal with any immediate problems
This Job Description is not exhaustive and the Cover Supervisor may, from time to time, be asked to take on additional tasks that are suitable to the role.
Hours of Work
30 hours per week (Monday-Friday) during termtime plus INSET.
Working hours: 8.50am-3.20pm (30 minute lunch break)
