An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Outpatients Department at Colchester Hospital for highly motivated Healthcare Assistant to join the team.


If you like a challenge, are able to work at a very fast pace, enjoy working with a multi-disciplinary team and can give our patients the dignified care they deserve then this could be the job for you.

We have full time and part time availability.

  • To meet the direct and indirect care needs of patients under the delegation and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • To ensure high standards of patient care at all times, in line with Trust policies and guidelines.
  • To work as an effective member of the nursing and wider multiprofessional healthcare team.
  • To work within the boundaries of the role of the HCA and refer to the Registered Nurse as appropriate.
Please note you may be required to undertake a Numeracy & Literacy test as part of the pre employment checks

If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills and knowledge then we are keen to hear from you.


  • To work as a member of the ward team, establishing effective communication networks across the multidisciplinary team and wards/departments of the Trust and with patients and carers
  • To establish professional relationships with patients/relatives/carers, communicating with them in ways that respect their views, beliefs and culture, and being aware of own response to distressing circumstances.
  • To report to the senior nurse on duty in a timely manner, information relating to all work activity, e.g. identifying significant changes in relation to direct patient care/treatment plans
  • To assist the Registered Nurses and Doctors with clinical procedures, acting as a chaperone if
necessary

  • To maintain equipment ensuring that it is clean and ready for use
