Marlin Industries is an equal opportunities employer and has an exciting opportunity for a Team leader to join the team at our Hawick site working in our production area.

Joining us on a full time, permanent basis, you will be required to work the following hours:

Week - 6am-3pm Monday - Thursday and 6am-2pm on Friday, Week - 3pm-12am Monday to Thursday and 2pm-10pm Friday.

You will manage a team of - 8 people

Wage - £28,973.64 per year working 39 hrs per week


The Team Leader has an important part to play, not only in the smooth running of the production area, but the site as a whole.

The Team Leader forms part of a close knit team of people in the supervisory structure.

A key requirement is for personnel to work closely to achieve earnings, health & safety, quality & environmental company goals.

This must happen within a shift and across shifts. The supervisory structure must ensure a tight control is retained over the site. Failure to do so will lead to the organisation's objectives being compromised and personnel working without clear direction.

Key responsibilities / accountabilities


  • Assisting in the production planning
  • Available personnel
  • Stock checking materials
  • Implementation of production plan & recording of output
  • Allocating personnel to the different aspects of the production process
  • Ensuring sufficient materials are available at the point of processing
  • Ensuring quality of product meets customer requirements
  • Providing assessment of training needs & delivery to personnel in the area
  • Ensuring personnel are trained in accordance with the written training plan
  • Ensuring training is delivered and is recorded
  • To conduct regular appraisal of team members against job description
  • Receive holiday request and sanction leave, based on minimum numbers of
personnel required to operate the shift in a safe & efficient manner


  • To ensure a safe working environment is maintained
  • Reporting of mechanical/electrical faults
  • Use of PPE as required by the production process
  • Regular tidying of the storage areas
  • Materials stored in correct location
  • Control of the shift tool locker to ensure personnel have the correct tools to perform what is required of them in a safe manner
  • To promote a "continuous improvement" culture by demonstrating leadership in compliance & motivating individuals to be innovative, achieve high standards and follow procedures.
Essential skills / competencies / qualifications (that are considered critical

to the effective performance of the role)

Skills / Competencies

  • Confidence to instruct, motivate and educate team members in relation to
achieving organisational goals.

  • Effective communication skills, in particular the ability to provide constructive
and positive feedback to members of the team as well as negotiating with senior

leadership to ensure the team has the necessary resources (time, people,

equipment) needed to achieve goals.

  • Good computer skills, in particular in the use of SAP (Training Can be provided)
  • Problem solving

Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 5 x GSCE (or equivalent)
  • SVQ level 2 in Team Leading
  • Appraisal training
