About the role
Prevent is part of CONTEST, the Government's counter-terrorism strategy.
The aim of Prevent is to give due regard to the need to stop people being drawn into radicalisation, stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.
We do this by challenging terrorist ideology; supporting vulnerable people and supporting sectors and institutions to build resilience.
The voluntary and community sector has a vital role to play in the successful delivery of Prevent objectives, especially in less heard groups.
This is a high-profile role and the post holder will support local groups to become more resilient in responding to local risks around radicalisation.
The post holder will build strong and sustainable relationships with key community organisations and support the development of a shared approach to safeguarding against radicalisation.
This will be achieved through providing safe spaces for organisations to discuss their concerns about radicalisation and share their good practice.
The post holder will support the development and dissemination of resources, the delivery of training and support Prevent aims and objectives.
They will also be responsible for the administration functions across the range of forums and meetings under the Prevent umbrella.
They will also build and maintain a network of contacts within their local area to advance Prevent activity.About you
- Good experience of the community sector and success in building partnerships.
- Good understanding of the Governments Prevent Strategy and how this affects communities and community organisations.
- Knowledge of and support for Camden's strategy to safeguard vulnerable individuals and organisations from radicalisation.
- Willingness and capability to develop an understanding of ideologies which may lead to radicalisation and appropriate counter narrative.
- Ability to create safe spaces for dialogue on sensitive issues, maintaining the emotional safety of those involved.
- Capacity to show resilience and tenacity in the face of problems and work effectively to resolve these.
- Ability to work in a sensitive political environment and respond to questions in a way which develops shared solutions.
- Some experience of working on projects which have SMART objectives and a requirement for evidencing of outcomes.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, including writing reports and letters.
