Overall Purpose of the Role:

To deliver a quality learning programme within the context of a prison environment.

Creating a positive learning atmosphere encouraging learner interest, motivation and achievement.

Support learners in the achievement of their short and long term aspirations.

The post holder will work within the appropriate legislative and policy frameworks.


Key Responsibilities

(Detail the key responsibilities and activities to ensure the overall purpose of the role is achieved)

  • Update learning materials as required to meet learners' needs and interests within the context of the prison environment
  • Contribute to the development of projects to support Project Based Learning.
  • Participate in learner enrolment and completion of learner documentation as required.
Providing support and guidance to learners as and when required.

  • Follow agreed quality assurance processes and procedures.
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues, partners, agencies and SPS to improve the learner's experience.
  • Work closely with the team to source teaching and learning materials.
  • Build internal relationships, liaising with colleagues, SPS and internal agencies to promote
Fife College.

  • Provide and take responsibility for reporting on a range of information including learner's progress, which you will also input on to PR2.
Tutor JD - Nov201- Participate in evaluation activities including self, course and learning activities in accordance to college policy.

  • Timetable using REMS as required.
  • Contribute to the Annual Learning Plan.
  • Complete session registers, progress reports and other documentation as required.
  • Support certificated learning on projects and themes.
  • Work in other Learning Centres when required to support the wider team.

SPS, Education Scotland, Local authorities, arts organisations and other organisations, awarding and accreditation bodies such as SQA, ASDAN, Colleges

Scotland and other 'quality standard' bodies.


Internal contacts include Heads of Department, Academic Heads, Academic and Quality Leads, teaching staff, quality teams, Support for Learning teams and business development.
