As a Barclays Company Secretarial Assistant in the Secretarial Services Team (SST), you will provide support to the Subsidiary Boards (including regulated entities) with transactional and entity lifecycle events.

This is an opportunity for you to manage several horizontal activities such as Close Links reporting, the subsidiary reports & accounts process and dealing with powers of attorney.

In addition, you would support the team with managing Group wide company secretarial projects.

What will you be doing?

  • Providing company secretarial, corporate governance support and best practice advice to Barclays legal entities, Specific Business Areas and colleagues
  • Liasing with and actively assisting in the oversight and training of outsourced company secretarial services providers retained under Barclays Managed Services Agreement
  • Participating in, and contribute to, strategic projects to implement and improve SST workflow processes
  • Assisting the Group's Regional Secretariats, Contacts, Businesses and External Advisers by instructing on entity records, Barclays governance procedures and best practices
  • Ensuring that all governance procedural materials and guidance are kept up to date and fit for purpose
  • Providing company secretarial services for Barclays entities including all statutory requirements for UK entities & advising on best practice governance for overseas entities
  • Assisting on subsidiary related project work, for instance corporate reorganisations, liquidations, mergers, and formations
  • Maintaining Diligent Entities in accordance with Barclays Corporate Secretariat standards (for UK and certain overseas entities) and other corporate records

What we're looking for:


  • Studying the Chartered Governance Institute or equivalent professional Corporate Governance experience
  • Company secretarial experience gained within a UK listed company of substantial size and complexity preferred
  • Well organised, with ability to prioritise own workload and workload of junior colleagues and operate under pressure in a fastmoving environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills alongside highlevel of attention to detail and accuracy

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Ability to build active relationships with key stakeholders at all levels, demonstrating competence in dealing with senior executives
  • Ability to quickly grasp the scope of a project/work stream and support its objectives to 'hit the ground running'
  • Knowledge of corporate governance principles and practices, particularly the UK Corporate Governance
  • High level of PC skills including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
