Who We Are Looking For:


  • Job Title: Senior Mechanic

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Senior Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance of all mechanical equipment within KCA DEUTAG scope / their area of responsibility and for the health and safety of all persons under their authority.


Responsibilities:


  • Supervises the mechanics.
  • Ensure that all mechanical equipment is maintained and repaired promptly.
  • Maintain a preventative maintenance programme in accordance with Group repair and preventative maintenance procedures as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • Ensure that all Third-Party personnel including Service Engineers comply with Group and Installation Safety Procedures.
  • Bring to the attention of the KCAD maintenance supervisor any matters relating to the safe mechanical operation of the Drilling packages and associated platform utilities.
  • Ensure that all equipment under their control complies with statutory requirements and is always maintained in a safe condition or is otherwise completely withdrawn from service.
  • Recommend and when approved embody modifications to equipment or systems to enhance safety, improve rig performance or comply with statutory notices.
  • Plan maintenance and repair tasks to minimise the effect on the drilling operation.
  • Carry out and record the maintenance tasks specified by the computerised maintenance system.
  • Ensure that health and safety at work and accident prevention are continuously brought to the attention of all employees under their authority, particularly by means of job supervision, instruction, and training.
  • Report any misuse of equipment to the Maintenance supervisor.
  • Safeguard the rig tools and instruments in their care.
  • Liaise with Maintenance Supervisor and Materials Coordinators to ensure that an adequate supply of mechanical spare parts is maintained on the installation and is stored in environmentally sound conditions.
  • Ensure that the entire Group's reporting system data sheets are completed e.g. Maintenance/ Repair/ Replacement job cards.
  • Carry out tasks as part of a multidiscipline maintenance team as operational requirements dictate.
  • Standin for alternative work discipline as required.
  • Complete any other reasonable tasks as delegated by Line Supervisor.
  • Attend, at Group base or Client premises, meetings, and additional training, as may be required.
  • Obtain the necessary safety clearance for the nature/type of work to be carried out, in advance, in consultation with the HSE Adviser and in accordance with safety procedures (i.e. WORK PERMIT).
  • Familiarise themselves with the Group Safety Policy and take all reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of themselves and persons likely to be affected by their acts or omissions, as required by KCA Deutag Operational Integrity Management System (OIMS)

Required Certification:


  • Recognised Engineering qualification / Trade qualification papers.
  • Recognised industry apprenticeship.
  • Offshore Survival.
  • OEUK Medical.

Required Experience:


  • Significant experience working in the drilling industry or with a drilling equipment related to maintenance environment.
  • Offshore experience in Mechanical position.
  • Experienced within CoW/permit to work system.
  • Microsoft Office literate.
  • Be able to work in an integrated maintenance team.
  • Experience of CMMS, i.e. SAP, Maximo.
