Working closely with the Corporate Responsibility Manager, you'll play a vital role in making sure everything runs smoothly.
Corporate Responsibility is part of our core values, so you'll be on the front line, celebrating best practice with industry bodies, NGO's, retailers and suppliers.
You will be considered a specialist in your given field and will be immersed in a wide variety of different tasks involving putting proposals together, training new staff members and liaising with stakeholders.

An opportunity has arisen to join a highly motivated team, who are leading and implementing our Corporate Responsibility agenda in the UK and Ireland.
It is a mid-level role in an area that receives a lot of attention, not only from external stakeholders but also across the rest of the business.
The role will be crucial in developing and implementing our strategies on areas including Ethical Trade, Modern Slavery and Fish Sustainability to deliver against Aldi's internal and external targets.
Your New Role:
Work with the CR Manager to:
- Manage the Ethical Trade Programme, which ensures people in our supply chain are treated fairly and with respect for their basic human rights and wellbeing.
- Manage Ethical Trade and Modern Slavery projects.
- Develop the Aldi UK and Ireland Modern Slavery Statement.
- Train key departments and suppliers on Ethical Trade and Modern Slavery.
- Work with external consultants and Ethical Trade organisations to:
- Drive improvements in labour standards.
- Prevent and tackle modern slavery.
- Work with Buying teams and suppliers on Ethical Trade and Modern Slavery initiatives.
- Key point of contact in the business on Ethical Trade and Modern Slavery
- Maintain regular contact and attend meetings with key external stakeholders (including consultants, industry groups, NGOs and Government bodies) to:
- Understand any emerging Ethical Trade and Modern Slavery issues.
- Understand changes to relevant legislation, such as the Modern Slavery Act.
- Respond to external stakeholder queries from customers, NGOs and government.
- Regular contact with The Aldi South Group's International CR department and input into International CR Working Groups.
- Work with the Communications and Marketing Teams to explore opportunities to promote the work that Aldi is doing in CR, and update the website with latest CR activities and information.
- Regular research of the market for competitor comparison, media trends, NGO campaigns to inform strategy.
- Proactively develop own knowledge and understanding of topics, demonstrating initiative and suggesting ways of improving current ways of working.
- Provide general support to the CR Manager including data entry and analysis, drafting letters, memos, presentations and communication materials.
- Acting as a key point of contact in the business on Environmental Compliance in têxtile supply chains and cotton sourcing.
Specialist for Fish and Seafood Sustainability:
- Support the CR Manager in driving Aldi's Fish Sustainable strategy and policies
- Work closely with CR international teams to ensure policies are robust and aligned
- Coordinate policy update documents for publication
- Support Buying Teams and Suppliers to meet Sustainable Fish Policies through advice and recommendations
- Research and coordinate fish sustainability projects
- Create and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including consultants, certification bodies, industry groups and NGOs to understand key issues within the sector.
- Create annual product report to support Aldi's international action plan
- Collate quarterly MSC Report for certified products and create annual international report showing progress towards sustainable fish and seafood goals
- Coordinate feedback for specification systems and advise technical service providers.
- Manage the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership fish metrics system and supplier engagement
- Conduct regular research of the market for competitor benchmarking, news stories, media trends, and NGO campaigns to inform strategy and policy development
- Respond to external queries, including customer and NGO letters
- Work with the Marketing and Communications Teams to drive external communications (e.g. website, Specialbuys magazine)
About You:
- GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications
- Interest in ethical trade, modern slavery and/or fish and seafood sustainability
