Job summary:

We're looking for a skilled communicator with strong writing and storytelling skills and an interest in digital communications to join our creative content team.

This role requires a dynamic operator with capacity for pushing new formats, optimising content and responding quickly to the news cycle.

We are looking for an individual who is fluent in social media best practice, relentlessly audience-focused and accomplished in creating content capable of stopping the news feed scroll.

You will join an innovative team of content creators and curators pushing the bar for Government digital communications.

Your work will directly help the department to promote opportunities for export and investment, while building appetite for UK goods and services overseas.

Your work will also connect businesses with relevant support, advice and other resources to help them grow.

Expect to be part of a team that thrives on collaboration, always uses data to test and learn, experiments with new formats and continuously improves engagement.

You will need to be confident in implementing social media channel strategies, interpreting analytics and using software such as the Adobe Creative suite and/or Canva Pro.

The person in this role will also need strong writing and storytelling skills, and sharp editorial judgement.

It is essential to have a natural interest in all things digital and a passion for how the Department for Business and Trade can communicate its news and support businesses.

Being able to work at pace is a must to succeed in the fast-moving environment of UK trade policy and promotion.

We promise no two days will be the same.

If this dynamic excites you, we want to hear from you.

Job description:

  • Develop creative content for key events and campaigns
  • Manage deployment of firstclass content across digital channels
  • Collaborate with teams across the department in DBT's international network
  • Manage social listening tools and monitor digital inbox, advising colleagues around the world on best practice
  • Capture video content for social media at trade shows and business visits
  • Use data and other insight to evaluate performance and improve outcomes
  • Help develop new ways of storytelling in the digital environment

Hybrid Working
The role can be based in London, Cardiff or Darlington. Some travel to London will be required, but not for day-to-day work.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DBT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average.

If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.
