Role:
Scourer and Tenter (Nights)
This role is nights and based at our Meltham site. You must have some têxtile experience and an understanding of fabrics.

Job Purpose:
To process woven fabric through the scouring & Tenter machine so it is sufficiently cleaned and soaked and can be chemically treated, it is then aligned and dried to width.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities:
- Plan and arrange woven fabrics which are to be processed through scouring on a daily basis, using a finishing department priority list.
- Organise work into product type batches so fabric can be processed in a continuous run.
- Using the lifting & handling equipment provided, load rolls into the machine and attach them to the existing fabric already threaded into the machine.
- Wet carts of fabric are pushed towards Tenter to be sewn against existing fabric.
- Set the machines speed, temperature and chemical usage levels to the Scouring & Tenter specification provided.
- Replenish chemicals / detergent as necessary.
- Carry out quality checks to safeguard against fabric damage.
- Ensure all pieces of fabric are processed through MRP/ERP packages or a similar system and on manual record sheets.
- Ensure the Scouring machine is cleaned down thoroughly on a weekly basis using the power washer provided.
- Tenter must be deep cleaned Biweekly: cleaning burners, greasing, oiling, steaming and chain inspection.
- Ensure the working area is clean, tidy and free of obstructions.
- Maintain the department's quality, health and safety standards by following the set procedures.
- Any other general duties as and when required.
Education / Skills / Knowledge / Experience:
- Knowledge of flat woven production.
- Knowledge of other finishing processes.
- Knowledge of MRP/ERP packages or a similar system
- Knowledge of boom picker operation
- Experience in woven têxtiles.
- Experience of têxtile finishing processes.
Personal Qualities
- Good attention to detail.
- The ability to bend stretch and lift weights of up to 25 kgs.
- Flexibility and selfmotivated.
- The ability to distinguish between similar colours and shades.
- Good hand and eye coordination
Hours of Work:
10:00 pm until 06:00 am Nights
