What you'll be doing:


In the brand-new role of Field Trials Manager, you will play a central role in optimising the deployment of sterile insect technique (SIT) solutions in the field.

Working with numerous species, both insect and crop, you will be responsible for the design andmanagement of multiple trials in a variety of settings.

Leading, motivating, and inspiring your team of scientists and field assistants, you will encourage progress and create a fun, friendly, positive and constructive team culture.

In addition to supporting juniors, you will also have numerous opportunities for personal growth and skill development, rising through the ranks as the company continues to expand and impress the entomology sector.


You will be:

  • Optimising the deployment of pest control solutions.
  • Designing and managing multiple field trials.
  • Developing and optimising the release and monitoring strategies for each solution.
  • Building and developing your own team of scientists and field assistants.
  • Coordinating with the broader teams to manage demand for insects.
  • Communicating effectively with different audiences to discuss trial progress and outcomes.
  • Proactively identifying and mitigating risks related to trial execution, through the attentive observation of field conditions and tracking of weekly data.

What experience you'll need to apply:
This role will be perfect for you if you have:

  • A Masters or Undergraduate Degree in Biology, Entomology, or similar field.
  • Proven experience in field trials within the entomology or agricultural pest sector, from design through to execution, management, and reporting of results.
  • Experience managing and training junior personnel.
  • A good understanding of data processing and statistical analysis. Any understanding of R and/or Python is desirable, though Excel experience alone is sufficient.
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office family, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to carry out moderately intensive physical work.

A full UK driving licence is mandatory, in addition to a willingness to travel the UK regularly, and abroad, where necessary.


What you'll get in return for your experience:
In addition to the competitive base salary banding of £40,000-£55,000 (dependent on experience), you will also receive:

Core working hours are 9-5:30pm with half an hour for lunch. This is a full-time (37.5 hours) permanent position.
