The role

The difference our new Human Factors Consultant will make
As a Human Factors Consultant, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be developing the Human side of engineering for Cavendish Nuclear.


Day to day, you'll support the HF input to design projects, ensuring that nuclear safety requirements are incorporated, prepare and agree integration plans and manage the delivery for the work undertaken within the agreed remit against cost and programme to the satisfaction of the key stakeholders.

You'll also produce, verify, and approve calculations, analyse, design basis documentation and technical reports, participate in hazard identification studies and act as the point of contact for the key stakeholders, ensuring adequate communication between the engineering delivery team, construction experts, operators, safety assessors, site safety case managers and other stakeholders.

This role provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office/onsite and days working from home.


Essential experience

  • A degree level qualification in ergonomics, human factors or applied psychology
  • Experience working in an engineering environment
  • Membership (or able to work towards) of an appropriate professional body (ideally the CIEHF)
  • Relevant proven experience of undertaking human factors assessments in support of hazard analysis, safety justification and performance improvements.
  • Direct and relevant proven experience of undertaking human factors design activities in support of design and engineering programmes.
  • You must be have the ability to achieve DV clearance
