Public sector client requires an Azure Data Engineer

Brighton (flexibkle hybrid working - 4 days per month office)


Work within a modern data architecture within the Microsoft Cloud (Azure) skilled and enthusiastic data engineers required to support our on-going innovation and development.

  • Work with business users and product owner to translate user stories into technical delivery.
  • Be a handson data engineer across the suite of Azure services compiling the Data Platform.
  • Build scalable and costefficient solutions using Azure data technologies, adhering to best practices and agile processes to the highest possible standards.
  • Stay up to date on evolving technologies, ensure data platform and the data engineering team remain current.
  • Ensure that the platform adheres to clients data governance and compliance policies.
  • Support of operational processes and end users, implementing monitoring and alerting practices to ensure service reliability.

Essential

  • Understanding of cloud data platforms and data storage technologies (Ideally Azure)
  • Exposure to big data concepts and design practices
  • Proven handson Data Engineering development experience
  • Excellent SQL skills at both a functional and nonfunctional level
  • Experience of building and maintaining relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Understanding of Agile working methodologies
  • Use of a branchbased source control

Desirable

  • Azure Databricks
  • Python, Spark, C#, Powershell or other relevant programming skills
  • Development of DevOps pipelines (Test automation, Infrastructure as Code, Continuous Integration/Deployment)
  • Experience of Azure Analysis Services or SQL Analysis Services
  • PowerBI (or similar)
  • NoSQL and Graph Databases (Azure Cosmos DB)
Computer Science or related degree.
