Hook Loader Driver (RORO)

Pay:
£14.02 per hour,


£34,993.92 per year equivalent at 48 hours per week

Hours: 4 days' out of 7 days', including one weekend day per week.

About You


As a Hook Loader driver, you will demonstrate a good understanding of the 'roll-on, roll-off' vehicle you are operating, as well as the container types to be handled and transported.

You will demonstrate good organisational skills, being able to work flexibly to varying routes and schedules created by the changing needs of our clients and the business.


Working mostly independently, you will show good management of personal workload, taking responsibility for loading and unloading containers carefully and securely, and in accordance with our health and safety practice.

Yorwaste is proud to have received five stars in the Occupational Health and Safety Audit conducted by the British Safety Council.


You will be a positive and enthusiastic person, able to adapt to operational obstacles that may arise in varying weather conditions.

You are able to demonstrate great communication skills, coordinating regularly with our transport planners and wider team to help deliver an efficient and friendly service.

You may be asked on occasion to help with other sites if required to support the wider team across North Yorkshire.


Essential Qualifications

  • Category 2 Drivers Licence (Category C) with no current or historical driving disqualifications
  • Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)

Your Offer


In return, you will receive an hourly rate of £14.02 per hour, equivalent to a basic annual salary of £34,993.92, working 48 hours per week.

You will also receive extra allowance for working Sundays and Bank Holidays, and there may be opportunity for additional hours.

You will be entitled to 5.6 weeks' holiday, including bank holidays, increasing to 6.6 weeks after 5 years employment.

This is a permanent role working full-time, 4 days' out of 7 days'. These 4 days' will fall over a 7-day schedule, including one weekend day per week. Your 3 days off will fall as 2 days midweek, plus one weekend day. Shifts are approximately 12 hours long, resulting in approximately 48 hours per week.
